ROOT TREATMENT

WHY DO YOU HAVE TO ROOT THE TOOTH?

In the crown part of the teeth is the pulp chamber, and in the tooth roots is the root canal system that communicates with the chamber. In these areas is the network of blood vessels and nerves in the teeth. When the bacteria in the oral cavity reach this area, either through a process of caries or a traumatic fracture of the tooth, the bacteria cause the gut to become inflamed, which is called gingivitis. Its symptom is a sudden onset, extremely painful and radiant pain, which occurs mainly at night in a supine position and does not sooner or later disappear with its analgesic effect.

I ask you, if you notice any symptoms of periodontitis, to see your dentist so that the dental procedure can start in time so that the bacterial inflammation cannot continue to reach the jawbone at the apex of the tooth!

WHAT IS ROOT TREATMENT?

Gingivitis is caused by bacteria in the root canal system. Because the blood vessels in the root canal are damaged, the cells of the immune system can no longer reach the site of inflammation. In this case, root canal treatment of the tooth is required, when the canal treatment devices are used to file the canals and rinse the bacteria and canal debris with a special disinfectant solution.

Root canals are usually performed in one session using hybrid manual and machine techniques with a nickel-titanium tool system. The machine root treatment tool is the Reciproc Blue system, which provides one of the most modern, most flexible nickel-titanium root canal needles to eliminate inflammatory processes even in the most complex root anatomical situations.

It makes root canal treatment more complicated if the inflammatory process extends beyond the apex of the root canal.

WHY DO THE ROOTED TOOTH NEED TO BE ROOTED AGAIN?

WHAT DOES THE ROOT REVISION MEAN?

If a root-filled tooth becomes complained again, the following symptoms may be observed:

- tenderness to bite, intermittent dull aching pain, in more severe cases painful soft tissue swelling around the tooth may occur, which may be excreted through the fistula opening

Why is this happening? The root canal is again overinfected through oral bacteria, which can be caused by a poorly closing old filling or secondary caries next to the crown, post-traumatic tooth cracking, or extremely severe periodontal disease that has opened the way between the oral cavity and the root canal system.

In such a case, the already rooted tooth should be re-treated to preserve the tooth and the patient should avoid bridging or implantation to correct the tooth loss.

Root canal treatment is performed with special tools under microscopic magnification.

BENEFITS OF ROOT TREATMENT

  • the tooth can be saved

  • implantation can be avoided, the best implant is your own tooth

  • completed in one session or 2 sessions

  • by saving the tooth, the dimensions of the jawbone around the tooth can also be preserved

DISADVANTAGES OF ROOT TREATMENT

  • it takes a long time to make a correct, timeless root filling  used for curved roots, previously broken canals, pseudoranges, perforations

  • if the inflammation extends beyond the root apex and the patient's face swells, the duration of treatment may increase

CONTRAINDICATION FOR ROOT TREATMENT

  • we struggle to keep our teeth until the last minute, but unfortunately there are cases when it becomes impossible to keep a tooth or maintaining it maintains an additional inflammatory situation that is dangerous to the patient's health

  • the tooth cannot be saved by caries / fractures below the bone level and crown extension surgeries

  • irreversible inflammation of the periodontal, causing horizontal and vertical movement of the tooth

  • the tooth maintains inflammation that threatens the orbital, latero / retropharyngeum areas (inflammation spreads to the eye socket or cervical areas)

ROOT TREATMENT STEPS, PROTOCOL

1. Meeting

Examinations and planning, consultation, diagnosis. During special double anesthesia, the caries is removed by magnification, if necessary, the tooth is constructed, and then a tiny hole is drilled in the top of the tooth (trepanation) to gain access to the root canal system. The channels were expanded to full length in cofferdam isolation and flushed according to the modified Schafer protocol.

If the condition of the tooth is good, a permanent root filling is made in that session, a temporary filling is placed in the tooth and a follow-up X-ray is taken of the root filling.

If the condition of the tooth is not yet satisfactory, a temporary drug root canal is placed in the tooth.

2. Meeting (if necessary)

Under anesthesia, the nerve filling, temporary root canal filling is removed, the canals are rinsed, the canals are filed and the root canal is permanently filled, a temporary filling is made and a radiograph is taken of the root canal.
